Rainforest Investigations: Rainforest Chemical Ecology |
|
|
|
A rainforest is a forested biome with an average
rainfall of 50 to 260 inches (125 to 660 centimeters) a year. Often the rainforest will
get 100 inches of rain in a year. There is usually a brief time when
there is less rain. The average humidity is between 77 to 88%.
The temperature in the rainforest rarely gets higher than 93°F
(34°C) or drops below 68°F (20°C). The soil in the rainforest can be
poor because high rainfall tends to leach out the nutrients. This biome
is found in both temperate and tropical climates. |
